Bridegroom and 3 others are killed On Eve Of Wedding As Robbers Hit Ekiti Bank

Four people , including an intended bridegroom , the manager, a cashier and a guard were killed when men of the underworld stormed a bank in Otun -Ekiti , Moba local government area of Ekiti state.
Gistmaniac reports that the intended bridegroom killed in the robbery incident was to get married on Saturday , 12 th November , 2016 .
A surviving friend lamented that they came to withdraw some money to procure some things in respect of the wedding .
An eyewitness who said the incident happened after working hours at about 6 pm in the evening , also stated that the robbers carted away huge sums of money during the raid .
The witness said he was getting a bottle of drink in a shop opposite the bank when he heard a gunshot immediately followed by more spraying sounds of gunshots and explosives .
“ That was when I saw some armed men in front of the bank which made those of us around there run for our lives ” .
Another eyewitness asserted that he “ envisioned the robbers fixing themselves at the four entry points leading into the town ” .
According to him , the sporadic gunshots and sound of explosives lasted for about an hour and left five persons dead .
Though policemen reinforcement squad later stormed the scenario , the robbers had left the scene by the time they came .
The family of the late bridegroom were embittered and couldn’ t be consoled especially the bride to be who could not uttter a word but wallowed in tears .
Confirming the incident , Ekiti Police Public Relations Officer , Mr Alberto Adeyemi, said the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the morgue in Usi -Ekiti General Hospital
“ We have commenced investigations into the incident and hope that the perpetrators would soon be apprehended,” he said .
