PHOTOS : Rihanna Gets The Painful Traditional Maori Tattoo Inked With A Chisel

Fresh from the first leg of her Diamonds World tour, Rihanna decided to pay homage to New Zealand where she eventually got a permanent traditional Maori tattoo on her right hand by legendary New Zealand tattoo artist, Inia Taylor . The Maori tattoo is one of the most painful kind of skin marking out there because instead of needle puncture, this one is performed with chisel, ink pigment and mallet...and rather than a smooth surface like modern tattoo would give you because it bleeds and leaves the skin with grooves.
