Philippine Bus Crash

Just after midnight on a dark and rainy Saturday morning, the brakes on a bus failed as the driver was negotiating a downhill curve, resulting in a pileup in the Philippines that injured 44 and caused 20 fatalities. The bus appears not to have been speeding but was probably overloaded.

Three buses and four vans were involved.

One out of control bus struck the other vehicles on a narrow road on Luzon island.

The fatalities included four children, a truck driver and his assistant.

A one year old infant survived.
